Ambulance Victoria's (AV's) operational structureaims to improve the health of our community by delivering innovative, high quality ambulance services and providing exceptional clinical care. Within the Transformation and Strategy Division of Ambulance Victoria (AV) sits the recently established ‘Insights Centre' designed to provide intelligence and decision support to help improve AV operational and corporate services and ultimately to improve patient outcomes.

An exciting opportunity now exists for an Administrator, Insights Centre to join the team and be responsible for the construction and dissemination of actionable insights analyses and reporting solutions that enable AV to improve performance, efficiency and deliver on its strategic objectives. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this full time, permanent role will initially be performed from the successful incumbent's home. In normal circumstances the role is based at AV's Doncaster Business Centre.

About the role

Reporting to the Principal Reporting Developer, the main duties of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Preparing appropriate responses to requests from external parties and regulatory bodies, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of reports and alignment to privacy, security and other regulatory / compliance policies;
  • Supporting AV's Information Management program through collaborating on data quality and reference data projects as well as undertaking User Acceptance Testing, in collaboration with the broader Insights Centre and ICT functions;
  • Ensuring all reports, analyses and dashboards developed are robust, validated, well-maintained and documented, adhering to quality assurance processes;
  • Identifying risks, trends, impediments and opportunities for standard reporting, self-service dashboards and analytical projects & developing the strategies to address them;
  • Taking responsibility for specific data analysis tasks, including the preparation of reports, analyses and dashboards; actioning requests for stakeholders as required as well as creating, delivering and maintaining official reports & dashboards with accountability for accuracy and quality
  • Providing analytical support for strategic projects, both internally and externally to AV, including participating in project teams, committees & working groups as required.
  • Developing, maintaining and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to pro-actively identify opportunities and partnerships

About you

With a tertiary or post graduate qualification/s, preferably in a data related discipline, the successful candidate will ideally possess experience developing analytical products such as reports, dashboards, visualisations and algorithms, as well as an ability to distil complex analysis into meaningful narratives and visualisations for a wide range of stakeholders. Armed with a knowledge of basic statistics and experience in analysing large and complex data sets, the ideal candidate will also be skilled in one or more data and analysis technical specialties (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R, Python, ETL, RPD) including demonstrated application in a business setting.

Finally, along with lateral thinking skills, an ability to identify issues and proactively problem solve, candidates should be strong communicators with the ability to present their findings and recommendations to relevant audiences. A conceptual understanding of the principles of Agile Frameworks and design methodologies is preferred. AV has introduced salary bands and this position is graded at AV3. The AV grade salary range for an AV3 position and the salary on offer is $77,620 to $91,853 plus 9.5% superannuation. The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade applicable to a position.
