The Environmental Health team is responsible for matters which may affect the public health safety, convenience of the community and the local environment; Responding to enquiries, giving advice, carrying out inspections and reporting.

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Environmental Health Officer. In this role you will be responsible for inspecting registered premises/vehicles; responding to complaints and requests for information or advice on matters relating to public health, pollution incidents etc; take samples for analysis from food premises, cooling towers and swimming pools.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and /or extensive job related experience
  • Experience in the investigation and complaint resolution process
  • Experience in preparing written correspondence and well developed skills in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in applying and enforcing relevant legislation
  • Ability to be innovative, self motivated and to work in a team environment
  • Sound organizational and time management skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Class C driver’s licence
