Operations Supervisor

We are recruiting an experienced Operations Supervisor for Night Shift to join our Distribution Centre in Truganina.
 This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.

The purpose of this role is to ensure safety, quality, agreed levels of service and productivity outcomes are achieved through the effective coordination of all warehouse operations, with an engaged and empowered team.

You are responsible for the:

  • Operations function in its entirety
  • Operators working within the Hanes People and Occupational Health & Safety systems
  • Procedures while achieving service level expectations and budgeted productivity levels

The safety of our people is paramount, and we need you to be visible and adopt a management and leadership style that ensures a safety culture is embedded across the business. We also expect you to work with a LEAN approach for continuous improvement, including identifying and implementing policies and procedures that ensure an environment of continuous improvement, with operations that are efficient and cost effective.

 So we are looking for ...

This is a coveted role in our Operations team, one that provides high levels of business exposure and the opportunity to formally lead a large and diverse team. Naturally it is very hands on and operational, and you must be someone who is nimble, flexible, handles ambiguity well and is responsive to change.

In addition we require the following experience:

  • Degree qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain or other related field - desirable not essential
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in a similar/related role: Operations, Logistics or Warehousing Supervisor
  • Expertise leading and overseeing a large team
  • LEAN/Six Sigma experience/training
  • Operational knowledge of systems, products, SOP's and operational management
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of warehouse management systems: AS400, Wamas, Dematic, Schaefer
  • Experience in highly automated, voice picking and manual picking processes 
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and methods – essential
  • Experience in team performance management
  • Confident in communicating across a broad and diverse team, as well as upwards to senior management
  • Influencer, leader, change agent
  • Strong analytically and comfortable using Excel
