The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our Newcastle office to join us on a max-term contract for until August 2022. 

This is a key position within our group, where the successful individual will play a major role in driving the commercial and strategic outcomes on a major project we are currently delivering in the local Newcastle region. 

The successful applicant will be able to balance a strategic view, with a focus on commercial results and business processes, whilst maintaining an approachable, professional and positive disposition. 

What you’ll do:

  • Provide leadership and commercial and program management advice to the capital program management team and ensure the programme of work is compliant with contract agreements.
  • Liaise with client Procurement team and ensure program wide value is realised from the supply chain through managing all scope, time and quality interfaces between contractors
  • Provide leadership to the Project Controls Manager. Ensure project controls are fit for purpose, are delivered in a timely manner and upskill team members on commercial reporting.
  • Review and challenge estimates and costs for individual work packages to drive value for money outcomes
  • Review and ensure program and project quality and risk processes are implemented

What we’ll love about you:

  • Degree level qualifications in Contract Law, Commerce/Finance, Engineering, or associated discipline.
  • Experience in a commercial/contract management related role ideally within the infrastructure industry.
  • Experience with various commercial models such as Alliance / Joint Venture / Design and Construct.
  • Financial and numerical acumen to facilitate the interpretation of the P&L and ensure its accuracy
  • Contribution to strategy development, budgeting, forecasting and successful implementation; and
  • Sound knowledge of risk management processes and assessment, and risk mitigation
