The Opportunity

Based in our growing Brisbane office, we are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Insurance team. This is a part-time role (3 days per week) where you will be responsible for providing assistance to multiple authors, including a Principal, with day to day secretarial and administrative support.

The successful candidate will enjoy working with and mentoring others as the team currently has the support of a more junior legal secretary. The role would suit someone either considering scaling back their hours or is looking to return to the workforce, while at the same time wanting to be kept busy as part of a supportive and inclusive team.

Duties will include:

  • File management;
  • Opening and closing files;
  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence;
  • Preparing briefs to counsel;
  • End of month billing and reporting;
  • Diary management and arranging appointments;
  • Liaising with clients via email and phone; and
  • General administrative duties.

This role requires you to be self-motivated, flexible and confident working in a fast-paced environment. The work is both challenging and rewarding, and our growing team has a high-performing, inclusive and learning-oriented culture.

Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years Legal Secretarial experience, ideally within an insurance or litigation team;
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively;
  • Good interpersonal skills; and
  • Excellent time management with the ability to prioritise tasks.
