Underwriter


Richard Oliver Underwriting Managers distributes products and services to Willis Towers Watson and Third Party brokers throughout Australia. It is also responsible for the development and management of products, facilities and platforms for the Corporate Risk and Broking (CRB) business in Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the organisation and help build the future strategic direction for ROUM. The role will have clear accountability to help the development of our Short Tail lines of business needs. The individual will need to identify opportunities for new products, develop and market the products and services of ROUM to Third Party brokers and internally within the CRB business.
The Underwriter will also work closely with the existing Underwriting team to support our existing ST products.
The Role

  • Providing professional underwriting services to brokers
  • Liaising with Insurers
  • Assist with executing initiatives that grow the business incorporating product development, marketing and development of broker channels
  • Achieving planned underwriting results for new and existing business
  • Working with the existing product underwriters to ensure service levels are maintained during periods of leave or absence
  • Ensuring quality of underwriting, including adherence to delegated authority, underwriting procedures and policy administration
  • Assisting with credit control activities

The Requirements
  • Proven experience in ST lines of business
  • Proven ability to network with broker clients, prospects and industry contacts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with key decision makers internally and externally
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with initiative, drive and enthusiasm
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Product development experience
  • A team player with the ability to demonstrate credibility and gain trust
  • Relevant industry qualifications
