The Team and the Role

Global NSW articulates the Government's roadmap to grow world-leading industries, create great places to live and work, and connect NSW to the world. International engagement, including growing and diversifying trade and attracting new international business investment will be integral to achieving these objectives.

If you are passionate about working in a team that has a real impact on the trade and investment agenda of Australia’s largest state, have experience working in and with key global markets and a desire to see NSW’s economic ties with these important markets grow, then this job is for you.

As Assistant Project Officer – Global Markets you will play an important role in delivering against NSW’s trade and investment strategy across NSW priority markets. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with key investors and deliver market-focussed trade programs to grow NSW’s share of exports to these markets. You will work with a dynamic team who is responsible for a broad range of initiatives including; trade promotion, business development, project management and international trade mission delivery; all while working at the intersection of business and government. You will also interact with business, government and ministerial stakeholders and manage complex projects to achieve outcomes for business and government

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in international business, government relations or other relevant discipline.
  • Existing experience working in Korea, Singapore or ASEAN markets required
  • Language skills required
  • Experience in business operations support, particularly in international operations.
  • Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and, plan and to manage work processes involving multiple stakeholders to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to anticipate stakeholder needs and use initiative to identify and proactively avoid risks and issues developing.
  • Excellent record keeping skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Resilient, with high level information gathering, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret information rapidly and accurately
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and high workloads to meet deadlines
  • Resilient, good verbal and written communication with high attention to detail
  • Develop strong professional relationships with stakeholders
  • Works well both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to work collaboratively within a team and excellent interpersonal skills
