The Fleet Maintenance division maintains electric and diesel passenger fleets for Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink at seven depots spread across the network, as well as technical fault finding advice to crew, in-service response to train faults and failures, and emergency train recovery. The maintenance centres also provide preventative/corrective maintenance and repairs for the following fleets for Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink.

The opportunity

We have 2 exciting opportunities for Rail Maintainer 2 Lv2 (Electrician) to join our Fleet Maintenance Division and work uniquely across both the Oscar & Horsby Maintenance Centres. You will play a vital role in inspecting, servicing, overhauling and repairing systems, equipment and components on passenger trains to contribute to the reliability and availability levels for Sydney Trains passenger fleet.

What you will be involved in?

  • Focus on attending to defective passenger cars at the service centre, analysing problems and taking actions to allow trains to remain in or return to service. This includes Customer Service Tasks to facilitate efficient working and minimise disruption to services.
  • Work across the scope of trade skills, qualifications, training and acquired knowledge and experience which includes the full range of tasks required to complete entire job functions and incidental to core tasks across trade and non-trade streams.
  • Work is undertaken individually or as part of a team, demonstrating capacity for the self-directed application of highly developed knowledge and skill undertaking complex tasks with minimum supervision within the incumbents core trade.
  • Quality and certification of all work allocated and the completion of quality systems documentation and/or electronic data collection.

About You

  • You must hold a trade certificate in Electrical
  • Demonstrated Electrical heavy engineering experience
  • Strong fault finding expertise in electrical including interpretting maintenance instructions and techical drawings
  • Demonstrated ability ability to conduct inspections, services, maintenance, modifications, upgrades, component changes and repairs to systems and equipment
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills in electrical systems and competent in the use of computer information systems and iPad

Note: This role requires flexibility in travelling and working between Hornsby & Oscar (Eveleigh) Maintenance Centre. Candidates successful in the role will commence on a MAINTR 2.1 grading with progression to the MAINTR 2.2 grading at the completion of mandatory training.
