Our client, a federal government department, responsible for research, collections and the publishing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, traditions, languages, and stories is seeking an APS6 Executive Support Officer to work within the Chief Operating Group As part of the Executive Support Unit (ESU)this area is responsible for providing ongoing administrative and secretariat support and project management to the Senior Executive and sits within the Strategy and Operations Group.

The Executive Support Officer (ESO) works as part of a small team to support the Executive Office through enterprise coordination, governance and secretariat services and other support services to the Senior Executive. This position reports to the Manager, Executive Support Unit, Office of the CEO.

In this role your duties may include;
  • Coordinate and/or provide input into the development of key enterprise documents including the Corporate Plan, Business Plan, Annual Report, Portfolio Budget Statements and the Corporate Calendar.
  • Provide governance and secretariat services for the AIATSIS Council and its standing committees (the Audit & Assurance Committee and the Foundation Committee), Senior Executive Board and other governance mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with stakeholders, including team members, government and non-government organisations. Knowledge or experience working with collections.
  • Assist in the development, review and monitoring of key policy documents that support business operations.

The Ideal Candidate will be a skilled and experienced individual to coordinate and manage business support and secretariat activities. The successful candidate will possess strong oral and written communication skills including advanced secretariat skills and process knowledge, demonstrated relationship management skills, well developed negotiation skills and problem solving abilities. They will also be flexible and able to adapt to changing demands and pressures, and be able to produce quality products within constrained timeframes and with limited additional information

This position will be offered as an APS6 equivalent hourly rate contract with full time hours, notionally for 3-months and will be based from Acton, Canberra.
