2020 Hospital Medical Officer General Medicine

Status: One full time equivalent (FTE) HMO positions from November 2020 to January 2021

In this position you will be a key contact for medical advice on the hospital site and whilst this can be challenging we hope you find the experience rewarding.

The successful candidates will also work with the Registrars to provide care to approximately 20 patients. Some weekend ward covering will be required and will be rostered in accordance with the EBA.

The position has been designed to provide a wide range of opportunities to the successful candidate, there are daily consultant ward rounds and there is the opportunity to attend specialist outpatient clinics also (to be rostered – but include Endocrinology, Renal, Respiratory, gastroenterology. Most patients will be admitted by the medical Admitting team and transferred to one of the medical teams; some patients will be admitted to the wards directly and the registrar or HMO will be required to admit those patients themselves.

Selection Criteria Essential: 01.MBBS or equivalent degree with current General AHPRA registration

Essential: 02.Demonstrated appropriate level experience and skills in medical assessment and clinical management of patients
Essential: 03.Thorough understanding of the relevant legislation pertaining to Medical Officers
Essential: 04.High level interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with patients and their families and other health professionals
Essential: 05.Evidence of on-going professional development to continually update personal medical knowledge and skills
