Where you will be working

The Operations Centre is a newly created area of our Integrated Operations that will play a pivotal role in the future success of our Pacific aluminium business. The team is responsible for driving the optimisation of the overall supply chain value using state-of-the-art monitoring processes and data driven decision making.

About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Operating Centre Mine andPlant Control to lead a team who delivers a business plan by remotely operating our mine equipment and fixed plants in Gove and Weipa. A key part of this role is leading the controller teams in day to day business activities to ensure that the direction of the operation is kept safe and stable at all times.

This role is an exciting leadership opportunity and an integral part of the Operating Centre team that has a strong people, safety, operational and problem solving focus. Working a 12.5hr day/night 4, 5, 5 roster in the Brisbane CBD and reporting to the Superintendent Operating Centre Bauxite, you will be:

  • Managing the processes and behaviours required to execute the mine and plant plan efficiently.
  • Leading a team of mine and plant controllers in achieving data integrity, plan conformance and the 3 winning conditions – grade, tonnes and efficiency.
  • Influencing both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the best decisions for the business are being executed through day to day communications and the Bauxite assets daily meetings.
  • Able to assign clear actions and objectives, demonstrating an understanding of how these achieve team objectives.
  • Able to give people frequent and constructive feedback linked to role expectations, recognising good work when observed.
  • Be visible and supportive and during times of change openly communicate the impact on people in their work.
  • Provide day to day support to people based on your own knowledge and experience, seek to understand in times of uncertainty
  • Actively seek diverse views and perspectives to identify better solutions.
  • Utlilises best practices in work activities.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, its advantageous you have:

  • Cert III or higher in Process Operations is beneficial
  • Proven experience in Leadership and People Management
  • A high level of computer literacy and excellent verbal communication skills
  • Live within 45 minutes commuting distance from Brisbane CBD (All candidates must undergo a fatigue management risk assessment plan which includes travel from home to work)

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Exposure to mine and process control environments / heavy industry is desirable
  • LEAN / Six Sigma or project management training is desirable
