The City of Stirling's Recreation and Leisure Business Unit aims to provide and facilitate a wide range of sport, recreation and healthy lifestyle opportunities for the community through the delivery of strategic infrastructure planning, facility management, club development, beach services and leisure programming.

The Role

We are currently seeking to establish a pool of qualified casual Lifeguards to provide a high standard of care and ensure the safety of users of the City’s three Aquatic Centres, Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre, Leisurepark Balga and Scarborough Beach Pool.

This role is responsible for the supervision of patrons, including proactive surveillance, reporting of incidents and provision of first aid, resuscitation and rescue services as required. Suitable candidates will have great communication and customer service skills with the ability to communicate well with our diverse customers.

You will also be required to assist with pool operations such as water testing, chemical control and plant operation as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.

Position Requirements

In addition, to be considered for this role you must also have:

  • A current pool lifeguard certificate
  • A current provide first aid certificate
  • Well-developed water rescue and resuscitation skills
  • Good understanding of safety responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to work shifts on early mornings, nights and/or weekends.

This casual role attracts a salary range of up to $28.85 depending on age, inclusive of 25% casual loading. Other benefits include:

Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool. This pool will run for a period of six (6) months during which suitable candidates may be contacted for casual appointment. Please note, being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you placement in a position.

15% shift loading may also be applicable in accordance with the relevant Workforce Agreement.
