The Diabetes Education Team provides education and support to all women with diabetes with the aim of preventing diabetes complications in women.

Your contribution

The Diabetes Educator is a clinical expert and an important member of the Diabetes Service and an integral part of the wider multidisciplinary team. With the support of the Diabetes Team, the diabetes educator provides and coordinates best practice clinical care for women having maternity care both as an outpatient and inpatient and also provides consultation to non-maternity areas at the Women’s.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Provide clinical care

  • Develop and maintain effective and timely communication with clients, the Diabetes multidisciplinary team, hospital management, the wider hospital community, professionals and students within and external to RWH.

  • Provides professional education and support to clients, their families and health professionals.

  • Supports and participates in quality and research activities relating to Diabetes to advance knowledge, understanding, and high standard clinical care.

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse Div 1

  • Diabetes Educator credentials or working towards.

  • High level communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels
