Lactation Consultant - Breastfeeding Service Royal Women's Hospital
Ongoing Position - 32 hours per week

The Breastfeeding Service provides a range of lactation services across the entire hospital.
The midwife/nurse lactation consultant is a member of the Breastfeeding Service team. The LC is provide expert professional support and clinical services on lactation and breastfeeding issues. With the support of the Breastfeeding Service medical officer and Clinical Midwife/nurse Consultant (CMC) lactation, the midwife/nurse lactation consultant provides best practice clinical care within the Breastfeeding Service. The Lactation Consultant provides inpatient, outpatient, maternity, neonatal, and Emergency settings at the Royal Women's Hospital.
The midwife/nurse lactation consultant supports the education of students and health professionals on clinical placement in the Breastfeeding Service.
The midwife/nurse lactation consultant will advocate for and advance the status of the Women's as a Baby Friendly Hospital according to WHO guidelines. The midwife/nurse lactation consultant will ensure that the service is woman focused, integrated, consistent and evidence-based.
