The Role
Defence’s Media and Communication Branch (MCB) invites applications from communications professionals who are passionate, enjoy a consistently high-tempo work environment and excel at managing multiple priorities.

There are two roles:

The Media Communication Officer in the Defence Media team is responsible for the central coordination of media enquiries, media liaison, preparation and distribution of media releases and alerts. The successful applicant will have a high level of stakeholder engagement and be required to liaise with Minister’s offices, senior executive and external stakeholders. A problem solver and self-starter, the position requires contribution to creative and effective communications solutions. Participation in the out of hours on call roster may be required.

The Digital Media Content Coordinator for the Directorate of Army Communication is responsible to the Digital Media and Communication Officer for the management of Army’s digital and social media platforms; preparing, drafting, posting and monitoring relevant and audience-appropriate content; to keep Army’s stakeholders engaged and grow audience share.

The Digital Media Content Coordinator also works closely with the Army Brand Manager to ensure that Army’s digital and social media platforms are managed and moderated in accordance with Defence policy and promotes Army’s strategic communication messaging.

About our Team
The MCB within the Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication Division manages media and communications services across the Department and the Australian Defence Force. This ranges from managing Defence Media within a centralised team, to managing the communications functions for our Services (Army, Navy and Air Force) in teams that are embedded with each Service and for our Groups, like Defence People Group and Capability and Sustainment Group.

Successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering a wide range of communication tasks including media relations, issues management, strategic communication planning, development of news stories and social media content, event management and brand management.
