What does the role involve?

Based in Sydney, the Safety Specialist will provide both expert safety technical advice and mentoring support to managers and employees within the Deliveries Business Unit. The role requires partnering with the business to build and maintain strong relationships with its leaders; whilst at times constructively challenging decisions.

On a daily basis this role will see you:
Work closely with the respective Senior Safety Specialists and Head of Safety to deliver on the safety strategy for each of these business units/regions.

Provide expert and relevant safety advice and support to operational managers and employees to embed safety initiatives

Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to supervisors, HSR’s and managers regarding Safety leadership and culture, and upholding appropriate Safety standards in the workplace

Provide insight and analysis on safety data and metrics

Monitor, review and support the implementation of the Enterprise Safety management systems and programs at a local level

Support and coach operational partners to improve safety risk awareness and programs at a local level

Challenge the status quo and way of doing things

Work in a dynamic environment that requires agile and creative thinking; and problems solving

What experience will you have?

We’re looking for experienced candidates who have an ability to build relationships and influence outcomes at a local level to become a key member of the operational team.

In addition to this, you will ideally have;

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar safety advisory role within a large and complex organisation

Experience working in a unionised environment

Track record of influencing business decisions with commercial insight

Proven ability to implement safety solutions and initiaitves that have long term impact

Experience in the interpretation and application of safety legislation, policies and procedures

Experience in implementing safety systems and working knowledge of safety management systems

Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities

WH&S qualification (Minimum Cert IV or Diploma)
