About the team

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.


The opportunity

Right now, we have an opportunity for a Plant Operator to join us in the Regional Maintenance team based in Orange, NSW.


You will operate a variety of major plant items that are used in road widening and maintenance projects. The area of operation will also include new construction build activities such as smoothing out roads, safety widening projects and heavy patching works, to name a few.


You’ll be required to carry out certain duties including but not limited to:

  • maintenance of established pavements
  • construction of new or enhanced pavements
  • establishment and maintenance of roadside fixtures and signage
  • application of road marking materials
  • application of bituminous sealing materials

Plant Operators are provided with thorough training and opportunities to develop professionally.


About you

We’re seeking a team player and experienced plant operator experienced in operating multiple major plant items including various rollers, excavator, front end loader or soil stabiliser equipment. You’ll be confident and highly capable operating major plant and have proven experience rectifying simple hazards without direction and reporting them accordingly. You will also:

  • Demonstrate responsibility for personal safety and safety of others in the workplace, and
  • Possess a valid Driver Licence and White Card

You will be required to work outside normal working hours, and attend after hours call-outs. Be prepared to travel extensively throughout the Central West NSW region and work at locations away from the base location.


Experience in civil infrastructure work is essential and experience in road construction would be highly desirable.


Wage and Benefits

The wage for this position is Plant Operator Grades 2-3 ($1254.44 - $ 1284.82) per week plus superannuation and relevant allowances as per the Award.
