About the Opportunity

The Commercial Analyst is a key part of the Performance & Expense Management team within Finance that partners and supports TAL expense management and enterprise reporting.

The role will assist the Senior Commercial Manager with driving stakeholder management, communication of expense results and the creation of actionable insights. This role will support the Senior Commercial Manager ensuring a sustainable expense framework is maintained, maximising operational efficiency and business improvement opportunities.

The role has a heavy emphasis on continual improvement and performance excellence.

In this role some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the support, development and implementation of an effective expense operating model between key contributors, taking ownership of expense planning, budgeting, forecasting and other processes as appropriate
  • Assist with the delivery in terms of the expense Framework which governs planning, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and analysis
  • Assist with the partnering of Executives and Senior leaders to influence and provide direction for the appropriate expense targets and goals for TAL as part of the planning and forecasting process
  • Assist with the production of month-end expense reporting and analytics, including targets, productivity metrics and insights.
  • Provide commercial insight and advisory on activities including business case development.
  • Assist with month-end expense meetings with stakeholders to provide analysis, identify opportunities and strategies to mitigate risks as appropriate
  • The assistance with strategy formulation in order to deliver sustainable long-term financial performance
  • Contribute towards short and long-term enterprise expense planning including stakeholder management during the planning cycle, co-ordination of inputs and analysis

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Post graduate qualification in Finance or Accounting
  • Previous experience with Enterprise and BI systems
  • Budgeting, planning & forecasting experience
  • Intermediate Excel Skills
  • Solid relationship / stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent financial analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to deliver change and process improvements
  • Excellent business partnering skills, working between horizontal business line management, business stakeholders and various Finance teams (Financial Operations, Actuarial)
