Engineering Intern - Rotating Equipment

Overview / Responsibilities: Wood is currently recruiting for an Engineering Intern to join our Rotating Equipment and Reliability team based in Brisbane, Queensland. This role is offered for a three month assignment and the position reports to the Rotating Equipment Reliability Service Line Manager.
Our summer Vacation Program is designed for students looking for an early kick-start to their career. The program is available to students studying a degree in Mechanical engineering and ideally either a Business / Commerce or Computer Science qualification and in their second to last year of university. A position such at this enables you to put what you’ve learned into practice and gain valuable exposure to the workplace so that you may experience first-hand what it's like to work on real projects prior to graduation.
To equip you with the knowledge and tools to successfully complete your work during the program, you will undertake an induction on your first day with the company and be assigned a buddy.
When the intern assignment concludes, you may be offered a part-time ongoing casual assigned or Graduate role with us – meaning you could finish your last year of study knowing you already have a job with a global engineering consultancy secured. Please note however, that this will be dependent on operational requirements at that time and is not guaranteed.
Skills / Qualifications: To be eligible for a vacation position please refer the following:

  • Currently studying Mechanical Engineering and ideally Business / Commerce or Computer Science qualification
  • You will be in the penultimate year of your degree or masters course and achieving an average of 70% or greater
  • Able to demonstrate that you are a strong communicator – you can clearly articulate your ideas, passion and perspective both in person and in writing
  • Be willing to actively learn new things – you're open-minded, a quick learner and a naturally curious person. We're particularly interested in students who are open to developing their technical skills
  • Contribute as a team player and thrive in collaborative environment, love bouncing ideas off others; but you can work independently when needed as well
  • Value openness, empathy and inclusivity – at Wood we've built a culture where everyone can bring their whole and authentic self to work
  • Be available to work for a 12-week period from December 2020 to February 2021

Please note applicants must hold full work rights for Australia to be considered for this position.
