An ASD Executive Level 2 Director, Deputy Director or Project Director works with a significant degree of independence and performs an important leadership role.
They will lead a team or teams and be accountable to plan and manage appropriate resourcing. They will be responsible for developing, influencing and delivering strategic outcomes in support of ASD’s functions. They will provide strategic advice to senior managers and stakeholders as well as leading and assuming accountability for complex or sensitive projects that have strategic, political or operational significance.
About our Team
ASD’s SIGINT and Network Operations Group (SNO), is responsible for ASD’s access, analysis, and offensive cyber capabilities.
These positions require effective management and leadership skills and a strong ability to lead a multi-disciplinary and highly technical workforce. The key attributes needed for the roles include high motivation, sound and decisive decision making, inspiring the workforce and demonstrating exceptionally strong interpersonal skills.
Successful candidates will be assigned to a position in accordance with their skills, abilities and expertise.
A merit pool will be created from this round to potentially fill future positions.
Our Ideal Candidate
These Director positions require highly motivated individuals with excellent communication and negotiation skills, attention to detail and an ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholder’s. The positions require significant project or issue management experience, including a strong ability to resolve competing priorities, manage resource dependencies, and work with ASD’s senior leaders to deliver strategic outcomes.
An understanding of ASD’s governance responsibilities to the wider Defence and Australian Government is also essential to these roles.
These Director positions will be expected to lead a section responsible for capability development, delivering customer-focused mission outcomes, and/or effective governance and business management practices.
It requires individuals who communicate effectively, have strong stakeholder engagement skills, are able to work across complex and often competing technical environments, as well as the ability to support ASD’s senior executives to deliver strategic outcomes.
