The Team Leader Thunderstorm and Heavy Rainfall will build a high performing team and will lead, manage and motivate the team to provide services that connect seamlessly and coherently within the Bureau's national footprint. This role will oversee the delivery of monitoring, analysis and performance reporting whilst driving continuous improvement to products, services, process lifecycle management, and governance in the Bureau. This role includes the management and lifecycle ownership of all products and processes for Thunderstorm and Heavy Rainfall services.
A key deliverable of this role will be to champion new ways of working in communicating and engaging directly with stakeholders and customers to build, nurture and grow relationships. Your leadership style will reflect a pragmatic response to ensure operations are collaborative, responsive and built on the principles of innovation and continuous improvement. This includes the implementation of lessons learnt from post event reviews.
As a leadership position this role will provide a strategic focus for this team, creating a shared sense of purpose by demonstrating how elements fit together and contribute to the higher level goals as defined by Group Plans and the Bureau Strategy 2017-22. You will maintain consistent collaboration with your peers whilst cooperating and innovating across EPS, NPS, DSS, Business Solutions Group (BSG) and the wider Bureau to contribute to the ongoing delivery of the Bureau's strategic direction.
You will be responsible for your ongoing professional development as a people centred leader and agile communicator. You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of all key domains in the development and delivery of Thunderstorm and Heavy Rainfall services.
In building the Environmental Prediction capability, you will be responsible for the development and specification of the learning and competency requirements for staff in the Community Services Group and the wider Bureau. In working closely with the Bureau of Meteorology Training Centre (BMTC) and the National Operation and Coordination Team (NOCT), you will prioritise staff development and learning culture to ensure world leading competencies are held within the team.
During significant weather events, you will be committed to supporting the Bureau and our customers outside the scope of standard working hours. At the request of the DSS teams, your team will provide specialist advice to our customers or Bureau staff as it relates to Thunderstorm and Heavy Rainfall services and products.
