Being a JEDS apprentice allows candidates with the right attitude to learn the technical skills required to gain a career in some of Australia's Defence Workforce

MEGT and JEDS are looking for Electronics and Communications apprentices based in South of Perth WA.

What will you be doing?

JEDS is a wholly Australian owned company that specialises in the design, manufacture, maintenance and support of Electronic Warfare (EW) products, Radar, Antenna and Radio Communications Systems used by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and other Australian Defence customers.

This full-time role includes the testing and repair of electronic equipment to ISO Quality Standards in a workshop environment as well as onsite installation and defect rectification work aboard naval vessels and at various defence establishments around Australia. As part of the JEDS team you will have the support of the engineering and technical staff to develop your understanding and skills.

  • A registered training provider that will teach you in a supportive environment free of charge
  • A MEGT field officer dedicated to guiding and helping you through your apprenticeship
  • All the required PPE

What we are looking for:

  • Completed year 12 or equivalent.
  • Excellent Computer skills
  • Pre-apprenticeship course is favourable.
  • A driver's licence and your own reliable transport.
  • Australian citizens or permanent residents
  • Problem solving skills
  • Sound commitment to Quality and Work, Health & Safety (WHS) requirements
  • Strictly an Australian citizen and be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain Australian Defence Security and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearances
  • The opportunity and willingness for occasionally work travel for short periods, primarily within Australia

Special Consideration Will be given based on :

  • Previous electrical or electronics experience - particularly in a Defence environment
  • Extant national security clearance.
  • Understanding of written technical information and instructions
