Location

You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. About the Role

The Operational Readiness Lead is an integral part of the Asset Project Delivery Team, reporting to the Regional Commissioning Manager within the Technical Function of BHP. The key contribution of this role is to deliver Operational Readiness services, through each of the phases of Projects from Study through to Handover to Operations. By working closely with Study and Execution Leads, as well as interfacing with Centralised functions and Site stakeholders, the Operational Readiness Lead is the key conduit, ensuring activities required to effectively handover projects to Operations are completed, to schedule.

The Operational Readiness Lead is based in the asset project office, with frequent site visits to ensure stakeholder engagement is maintained throughout each project phase, including execution and handover. They will be required to provide input to Engineering and Risk Assessments, complete OR Strategy methodologies, and plan and conduct OR Planning workshops for each asset Delivery project. Through OR Execution they will need to integrate and work with internal OR Execution partners, including the Maintenance / Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE), Technology and Project Information Management (PIM).

Once each project enters execution, the OR Lead will manage the team to complete Execution, which may include contractors. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, hardworking, team-oriented, able to manage multiple projects concurrently, effectively prioritise, and ultimately ensure OR deliverables are identified, completed to a high standard, and accepted by Site within this fast-paced environment.



This role is based in Perth with travel to site as required.

In this role you will:

  • Effectively transition projects through each stage of Operational Readiness; Strategy, through to Planning and into Execution
  • Provide input to Engineering, such as SoW and Tender Documents
  • Work with Project Development (Study) Leads to create OR Strategies
  • Conduct OR Planning workshops, to align Project and Site stakeholders on OR requirements and objectives
  • Participate in OR Risk Assessments with key Project and Site stakeholders
  • Effectively engage in MOC (Management of Change) for each project from an OR perspective
  • Provide OR input to Facility Handover Notices
  • Work on several projects concurrently, managing multiple priorities
  • Report and present material to Project teams and Commissioning Manager, for each project
  • Validate OR Contractor Plans to complete deliverables, and manage OR Contractors through OR Execution, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverable completion
  • Conduct appropriate audits or surveys to identify where necessary, corrective or adjustment activities for the OR Execution Contractor
  • Provide input into the MAP technical function Operational Readiness team overarching strategies and development for ongoing OR improvement
About You
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or relevant Trade
  • Solid relevant industry experience
  • Perth based (re-location allowed), willing to travel frequently to site
  • Project experience - delivering projects to site operations
  • Operations Experience - working as part of the Owners team
  • Project Management experience - leading teams and managing objectives
  • Contractor management experience - ensuring agreed scope is completed within schedule, to high standards
  • Effective communicator with the ability to interact professionally with all level of stakeholders, gaining cooperation and respect
  • Ability to work independently and under own initiative
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once
  • High prioritisation skills, must be able to work to schedules and manage deliverables
  • Effective workshop facilitation skills
  • Ability to positively influence stakeholders, and align multiple different groups
  • Knowledge of SAP and maintenance requirements
  • Understanding of DMS’s, including Smart Plant for Operations (SPO)
