Liberty Primary Steel, a member of GFG Alliance, operates integrated steelworks which include ironmaking, steel making, and rolling-mill facilities located in coastal Whyalla, approximately 400km from Adelaide.

About the role

Reporting to the Cokemaking Plant Manager, you will contribute to the business success of Liberty Primary Steel through leading the planning and execution of all maintenance activities across the plant.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing a capable cokemaking maintenance team
  • Ongoing review and oversight of maintenance budget and expenditure
  • Coordinating technical investigations and root cause analysis of key maintenance issues
  • Development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Improving maintenance work management practices
  • Increasing plant reliability through provision of quality maintenance services and defect elimination
About your experience

You are an experienced Maintenance Superintendent who is safety focused, collaborative and confident in your approach. You are a quick problem solver and can work through plant problems under pressure while providing timely and cost-effective solutions.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Engineering / Trade based qualification with relevant operational experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and coach others including peers and direct reports
  • Background in a similar processing manufacturing, mining, or heavy industry fixed plant environment
  • Strong leadership skills, enthusiasm, and drive
