Workforce Planning Specialist


With a good understanding of the people planning process you are not only a long term planner but are able to adapt quickly to changing workforce demands. You can successfully implement processes, and ideally have prior experience in forecasting, scheduling, budget adherence and reporting within a workforce management system, preferably Kronos.
You are willing to challenge for clarity and understanding, to influence change, be competent in negotiation and to work with and across the entire business to secure consistency in communication and execution. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required for this role, and the ability to analyse complex data to make it simple and understandable for your stakeholders.


As the Unit People Planning Specialist, you are responsible for the right resources, in the right places at the right times. your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to;
  • Implementing the people planning strategy at a unit level, ensuring adherence to IKEA’s employment standards and legal requirements relating to People Planning.
  • Managing the full function of the staffing optimisation process from forecasting to the execution of the schedule by posting schedules in a timely manner.
  • Collaborating with the Unit recruiting team to ensure vacancies are filled with the appropriate contract and availability to ensure the best possible customer meeting.
  • Identifying possible improvements in the unit people planning process and escalate any potential deviation when the scheduled or actual hours exceed the agreed financial framework.


Together the People & Culture team supports the delivery of the People & Culture Action Plan, People & Culture idea and the IKEA Business Operations with a key focus on IKEA co-workers, customers and the IKEA business. A pivotal role with this function lies in securing the co-worker experience, supporting leaders to ensure their teams are equipped with the knowledge and resources to create a better everyday life for the many people.


This is a full time temporary position located at our Distribution Centre in Marsden Park. The role commences February 2021 ending January 2022.
