Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Administration functions and ore processing and shipping facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Lead for our Pelletising Plant, reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent – Pelletising Plant. The role will focus on effective leadership and practical maintenance management, supporting the Superintendent in safely sustaining the condition and productive capacity of the Pelletising Plant.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Leading a team of electrical trades people in the safe, effective and efficient execution of maintenance strategy and repair work
  • Effective use of SAP to co-ordinate all maintenance activities relating to the Pelletising Plant, as well as the scoping and prioritisation of these activities
  • Directing the execution of any planned and/or unplanned maintenance work at the Fixed Plant
  • Significant input to the scoping, planning and execution of plant shutdowns – covering maintenance and improvement work
  • Ensuring a high level of communication with the overall Maintenance Team – Planners and other Leads – to ensure smooth interaction of daily activities and efficient allocation of resources
  • Technical input to key electrical and control systems across Pelletising Plant area, including fault finding and repairs.
About your experience

You ideally have proven experience in a leadership role working on maintenance of fixed processed plant. You are a quick problem solver who can logically work through plant problems under pressure and provide timely and cost-effective solutions.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong safety and customer focus with good communication skills
  • Practical leadership capability with experience in minerals processing
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Experience using computer maintenance management systems (preferably SAP)
  • Preferably an Electrical trade or Engineering qualification
  • Passion to challenge the status quo, identify opportunities for improvement and focus on results.
