We are seeking an organized, efficient, and communicative Chinese speaking liaison officer to coordinate between the school and it’s Chinese speaking families. In this role, you will act as the middle person (intermediary or liaison) between school and specific families to enhance their sense of belonging to the community, resolve issues, improve communications, and generally ensure that the relationship is as beneficial as possible.

The School Liaison Officer Level 4 is accountable for a range of professional support, including:

  • Follow the directives and priorities of the Principal and/ or delegate
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the school, as well as an understanding of how that impacts the community members
  • Translate written documentation into Mandarin and Cantonese
  • Provide translation services between school and parents
  • Collaborate and communicate successfully with other agencies outside of the school on behalf of parents
  • Work with other staff members to develop a greater understanding of the school and any issues that arise
  • Develop and foster relationships with the community and stakeholders
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize data and feedback to identify opportunities to improve the relationship between the school and parents
  • Compile reports about particular incidents, events, or updates about an important issue for the school
  • Promptly respond to incidents and other events as necessary
  • Support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church’s work in schools

Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 83 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney.

This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment including the completion of a National Police Check, retention of a valid Working with Children Check and adoption and compliance with CEDP’s Child Safeguarding Procedures and Code of Conduct When Working With Students and Children.
