Patient Services Officer (Patient Care Assistant)

The primary purpose of this role is to provide support to clinical services at Fiona Stanley Hospital to ensure a clean, safe environment for patients and staff at Fiona Stanley Hospital, WA.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist patient transfer daily from machine to SIM

  • Assist with hoisting and transferring of patients in department

  • Weekly changing of patient gowns

  • Weekly high dusting of linear accelerators

  • Weekly high dusting of CT scanners

  • De-clutter shelves in bunker to allow Serco to clean weekly

  • Weekly cleaning of control panels in SIM, SXRT, Brachy

  • Changing bags for masks weekly

  • Stocking supplies for medical tattooing, linen,

  • Assembling masks for patients simulation

  • Monthly rotation of sterile stock at the direction of the nursing team

  • Weekly stock checking and ordering

  • Cleaning and restocking trolleys in clinics

  • Cleaning of fridges and selves in clinical areas and store rooms

  • Cleaning of beds in bed bay area after patient use

  • Restocking of dressing trolley at end of day

  • Managing linen supply to all clinical areas. Liaise with Serco if supply of linen is needed

  • Cleaning, tidy and maintain the waiting areas

  • Liaise with Support Service Officers regarding supplies and distribution of items throughout the department

  • Convey inter-departmental request, (ie Request to Radiology)

Who you are:

  • High level verbal and written communication skills and ability to follow directions and meet specified time schedules

  • Basic computer skills

  • Suitable availability to enable effective service provision

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work effectively with minimum level supervision.

  • Ability to prioritize work schedule to meet changing needs

  • Can do attitude, willingness to learn new skills

  • Qualifications in patient care – certificate 2
