Technical Assistants


TAFE NSW is looking for individuals with current industry experience and knowledge in the below fields to join the Delivery Implementation & Performance – Class Support team as a Technical Assistant on a temporary part time basis in Orange and Dubbo.

The Technical Assistant is responsible for preparation of class learning exercises specific to their qualification skills set. This includes ordering, storing and monitoring supplies and maintaining equipment to support teaching staff with the effective and efficient delivery of educational programs.

Reporting to the Staffing Pool Coordinator you will be responsible for:
  • Designing, developing and producing teaching aids, practical assessment tasks, demonstrations and theory classes to support direct educational delivery.
  • Manufacturing class aids from drawings and/or instructions and ensure that tools and equipment are available for practical and theory lessons and monitor access and return to support students learning outcomes.
  • Maintaining, constructing and dismantling teaching aids and demonstrating equipment to comply with operating and safety standards.
  • Monitor stock control of materials, equipment, tools and consumables including maintenance of stock register and assisting teachers in the preparation of section requisitions.
  • Servicing, cleaning and routine repairing of tools, machinery, workshop and equipment to ensure safe and serviceable resources and work environment for the section's students and staff.

If you have:
  • Trade Certificate (Certificate III level or above) and/or extensive equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in stock control or warehouse related duties including receipt and dispatch processes and record keeping.
  • Possession of a current Drivers Licence.
  • Hold a current forklift licence and other licences relevant to the industry.
  • Possession of a current Electrical Tag & Test Certificate.
