The Engagement & Development Assistant is a key member of the Engagement portfolio and is primarily responsible for providing efficient team administration for the Strategic Events and wider Engagement portfolio as required, and for providing administrative support to the development function, comprising Partnerships and Philanthropy teams in the Corporate Services portfolio.

The Assistant role sits within the Strategic Events team in the Engagement Portfolio. It provides a range of support and administration services to facilitate stakeholder engagement activities, the delivery of business operations and to support the achievement of the Opera House’s strategic objectives. These services cover ticketing, finance, marketing, stakeholder data management, event administration and communications, project support, and other general administration tasks.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience providing administrative, personal and/or executive support to a senior manager and/or small team.
  • Proven organisational skills, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Basic skills in database and database management. Database/CMS software experience essential – knowledge of tessitura desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to conduct relationships with stakeholders in a professional, sophisticated and welcoming manner.
  • Able to balance competing priorities, set own priorities, meet deadlines, and demonstrate initiative and flexibility in problem solving and performing a wide-range of duties.
  • Excellent oral and written skills, including the ability to draft clear and concise messages and to present information and data in a logical and coherent manner.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
