The Cabinet team is responsible for managing the day to day parliamentary operations between the department, portfolio agencies and the Ministers’ Offices (MO). The team is almost always working to tight timeframes and team members can be flexibly deployed within the section to support other teams in the section when required. This promotes learning and development opportunities while ensuring all deadlines are met.

Experience working with and maintaining positive relationships with high level stakeholders, and a proven ability to manage staff at various levels in a fast paced and high pressure environment would also be highly valued in this role. The role provides an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the Government’s policy agenda, the Cabinet process, key departmental priorities and exposure to Ministerial offices and the Department's Senior Executive. Other key skills include the ability to manage workflow priorities for the team, provide constructive feedback to staff, model sound decision making under pressure, compile reporting and provide clear direction to staff. Prior experience with Ministerial and Cabinet processes is also desirable, but not essential.
The Assistant Manager will oversee the day to day operations of the Cabinet Liaison Office, including the workflow of Cabinet items between the Ministers Offices and the Department. In achieving this, the Assistant Manager will oversee Cabinet processes and provides support and guidance to the department as required, as well as stakeholder engagement.Key tasks for this position include:

This position requires an NV2 security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
